Moment of Silence

On 20-27 February 2004, Kupu-Kupu Gallery staged ‘Moment of Silence,’ featuring works by Richard Winkler at Hotel Mulia Senayan. Richard Winkler was born in June 26, 1969 in Norrk√∂ping, Sweden. When we talk about a painting, we often talk about its musicality, and this is particularly relevant with Winkler’s work. Three Girls Carrying Fruits emphasizes the tones of colors, the rhythmic repetition of forms and the elements and melody of the artist’s composition.

From 1992 to 1997, Richard Winkler worked as an illustrator for magazines, advertising and television. During this time, he also held several exhibitions showing his paintings. In 1997, he moved to Bali and became a full time painter. He lives in Kedewatan.

Winkler allows his painting to flow effortlessly. While he works, he often listens to various kind of music, from Classical to hardcore Techno, but sometimes he needs silence. His favorite is Mozart, but definitely not Debussy. He also listens to Vivaldi Rachmaninov, and Tchaikovsky.
